
Unlike her sisters, Calaveras had no specific power element or signature attacks.She was the second oldest of the Ayakashi Sisters.Calaveras is named after the mineral calaverite.Other Sailor Moon characters that Megumi Ogata voiced are: Haruka Tenou/Sailor Uranus, Vampir (episode 47), Seiren (episode 54), and young Mamoru from the R movie.It was never clarified if this a direct reference to Petz’s history with Saphir, or if it was an unrelated and random remark.
In episode 66, Calaveras said that Petz did not have to be bitter about men just because she was dumped. Petz’s signature attack was Dark Thunder. In episode 72, she received an unnamed wand that amplified her powers. Yet in the first anime adaptation, Petz survived and she was eventually purged of evil. In the manga, Sailor Moon killed Petz. However, Sailor Jupiter’s element is wood. Like her rival, Sailor Jupiter, Petz could manipulate electricity. She was the oldest of the Ayakashi Sisters. Petz is named after the mineral petzite. Saphir created the special earrings that his peers wore, but he did not wear them himself.
The anime also added a romantic subplot involving Saphir and Petz. While Saphir did help further along the goals of the Black Moon Clan early on, he later became conflicted about their mission. In the first anime adaptation, Saphir never engaged in combat with the Sailor Senshi or anyone other than Wiseman on screen.
This version of Saphir was notably different from the ones seen in the manga and in Sailor Moon Crystal. Although commonly referred to as only Saphir, his full name was Blue Saphir (蒼のサフィール Ao no Safiiru). “Saphir” is the French word for a sapphire.
